I missed these visits!
Last year, my life was too hectic for author visits. But I missed talking to kids, and God was telling me to get back at it. So, in late January, I reached out to the first school I ever visited and asked if they would welcome me back. And praise God, they said yes!
This visit to Legacy Christian School was just what I needed at a time when the weight of this world feels so heavy. These students really cheered me up! God always knows best! Hallelujah!

I was a little rusty at first, even though I practiced, but I found my groove after a few minutes. I love talking about this calling, the story, and the characters!
Except I hit a slump when I read a scene from Book One. Lol! I recovered quickly, though, and the kids graciously applauded when I finished.😅
After the reading, we had an exciting Q&A session. Kids ask great questions! I love how they try to get spoilers from me. Haha!
The kids were so enthusiastic that I forgot the troubles of this world, if only for an hour. God is good! I really need to do more author visits. I forgot how much I love them. They are, hands down, my favorite way to promote the books. ALL THE GLORY TO GOD!
Also, I was blessed to have my daughter in town from Arizona to be my helper. Afterwards, we had a delicious sushi lunch and went for a walk in a park that I visited often as a child. Sadly, most of it didn't look the same, but the stream was still beautiful. It was a wonderful day!
Are you part of a Christian school, co-op, or church in California?
Would your preteens benefit from a Christ-centered book series? I would love to visit and tell them all about The Chosen Kids. There is currently no fee for local organizations, as long as I am able to bring copies for book sales.😁 I sign each one and they come with their own bookmark—and at a very low cost for students, so parents don't have to break the bank. If you're interested, email me at rmruiz@thechosenkids.com and let's set something up!
I love my calling! So grateful to our Father in Heaven!
